The basics

What Is Testing, Adjusting & Balancing?

Testing, Adjusting & Balancing (TAB) is the process of measuring airflow, making required adjustments and balancing an ACMV or HVAC system against the project requirements.

TAB helps determine whether air is being distributed as intended across different rooms, zones or air outlets.

Testing tells us what the system is doing. Adjusting and balancing help bring it closer to what the project requires.

If the issue appears to be in the ductwork itself, see duct repair & rectification, duct installation & modification or duct reinstatement & relocation.

When to test

When Should Airflow Be Tested & Balanced?

New Fit-Outs

Check airflow before project completion or handover.

After Duct Modification

Verify airflow after ducts, diffusers or air routes have been relocated or changed.

Uneven Airflow

Investigate areas receiving noticeably more or less airflow than expected.

Project Handover

Provide measured airflow information where testing is part of the handover requirement.
Service scope

Testing, Adjusting & Balancing Services

The testing scope depends on the system, the project requirement and the agreed documentation.

Airflow Measurement

Measure airflow at relevant air outlets or system points according to the project requirement.

System Adjustment

Make practical adjustments where required to improve airflow distribution.

Air Balancing

Balance airflow across relevant zones or outlets based on the required system condition.

Post-Modification Testing

Check system airflow following duct relocation, rerouting or modification works.

Testing Records

Provide airflow records or project documentation where included in the agreed scope.
How it works

Our TAB Process

Review

Review the system, drawings and required testing scope.

Measure

Measure airflow at the required locations.

Adjust

Make the required system adjustments where practical.

Balance

Fine-tune airflow distribution based on project requirements.

Record & Handover

Document results where required for project review or handover.
Why Ventix

TAB Connected to Real Ductwork Conditions

Ductwork-First Understanding

We understand how duct routes, modifications and existing-site conditions can affect airflow.

New + Existing Systems

TAB can support new installations as well as existing systems after modification or repair.

Measured, Not Assumed

Airflow performance is checked using actual measurements rather than visual inspection alone.

Repair or Modification Support

If the issue appears related to the ductwork itself, Ventix can also support the required modification or rectification scope.
Common questions

Testing, Adjusting & Balancing FAQs

TAB stands for Testing, Adjusting & Balancing. It involves measuring airflow and adjusting the system so that airflow distribution better matches project requirements.

Air balancing helps identify whether different areas are receiving the intended airflow and whether adjustments are required.

TAB may be required after new installation, duct modification, system changes or before project handover.

Yes. Airflow testing can help check how the system performs after ducts or air outlets have been relocated.

No. Cooling or airflow issues can have different causes. TAB helps assess airflow performance, but other ACMV or equipment-related issues may also need investigation.

Testing records or handover documentation can be provided where they form part of the agreed project scope.

Need airflow checking?

Need to Know How the System Is Actually Performing?

Send us your drawings, site details or current airflow concern. Our team can review whether TAB or another ductwork assessment is the appropriate next step.

Thank you. We have your request.

We will review it and contact you to arrange a survey.
