The basics
What Is Duct Repair & Rectification?
Duct repair involves identifying and fixing problems in existing ductwork, such as leakage, damaged sections, failed joints or insulation issues.
Duct rectification goes a step further by correcting ductwork that is damaged, poorly connected, incorrectly routed or no longer performing as required.
Depending on the condition, the work may involve sealing, repairing, replacing or modifying affected duct sections.
The goal is not just to cover the problem. It is to identify what is wrong and rectify the affected section properly.
Common problems
When Should Ductwork Be Inspected?
Air Leakage
Escaping air around joints, connections or damaged duct sections can reduce the amount of conditioned air reaching the intended space.
Damaged Duct Sections
Dents, openings, loose connections or physical damage may affect duct integrity and airflow.
Insulation Problems
Damaged, deteriorated or poorly installed insulation can affect ductwork performance and may require repair or replacement.
Uneven or Poor Airflow
Rooms that receive noticeably different airflow may require inspection of the duct route, connections or balancing condition.
Airflow problems can have different causes. A site assessment helps determine whether the issue is related to the ductwork, airflow balancing or another part of the ACMV system.
Service scope
Duct Repair & Rectification Services
The required repair depends on the existing duct condition, location and cause of the problem.
Duct Leakage Rectification
Inspect and rectify leakage around duct joints, connections and affected sections where accessible.
Damaged Duct Repair
Repair or replace damaged duct sections depending on the extent and condition of the existing system.
Duct Insulation Repair
Repair or replace affected insulation where damage or deterioration is identified.
Joint & Connection Rectification
Rectify loose, damaged or poorly connected duct joints and fittings where required.
Duct Replacement
Replace sections of existing ductwork when repair is no longer the appropriate solution, with replacement sections from duct fabrication.
Existing Duct Modification
Reroute or modify affected duct sections where the existing route or installation condition needs correction. See duct installation & modification.
Duct leakage can occur around joints, fittings, damaged sections or poorly sealed connections. The exact cause should be confirmed through site inspection before the repair scope is decided.
In many cases, only the affected section or connection needs repair or rectification. Replacement may be recommended where the existing ductwork is badly damaged or repair is not practical.
Possible signs include reduced airflow, uneven cooling or visible damage around duct joints and connections. These symptoms can also have other causes, so an inspection is recommended before assuming the problem is duct leakage.
Yes, subject to site conditions, access requirements, building rules and the agreed work schedule. The required method should be confirmed after a site assessment.
Testing, Adjusting & Balancing can be carried out where required to measure airflow and make adjustments after the repair or rectification works.
Have a ductwork problem?
Let Us Inspect the Issue First
Not sure whether the ductwork needs sealing, repair, replacement or modification? Send us site photos, drawings or details of the problem. Our team can review the condition and advise whether a site survey is required.
We will review it and contact you to arrange a survey.
